For Cricut Everyday Iron-On, mirror the design and place the shiny liner side down on the mat. The design stays on that liner after weeding and is applied with the material's heat instructions.
Adhesive decal vinyl uses a different workflow. After cutting and weeding, transfer tape carries the design from its backing to the project surface. Do not apply the iron-on instructions to a product merely because both are sold as vinyl.
Identify the material before choosing a setting
Read the complete pack name: adhesive vinyl, iron-on/HTV, printable vinyl and printable iron-on are different products. Permanent versus removable describes an adhesive-vinyl choice; it does not describe whether a tool fits the machine.
For printable material, confirm printer technology and the printable side before loading a sheet. Use the exact product instructions for mirroring: ordinary cut iron-on and printer-fed transfer products do not all have the same workflow.
Use the right transfer tape for a decal
Cricut recommends regular Transfer Tape for most smooth vinyl and StrongGrip Transfer Tape for textured products such as Glitter, Shimmer and True Brushed vinyl. StrongGrip is too aggressive for many ordinary vinyl types. The tape is an application accessory, not a stronger cutting mat.
Burnish the tape onto the weeded design, turn the piece over and work the backing away as directed. If the vinyl does not lift, re-burnish and inspect the material/tape combination before pulling harder. Apply to a clean, suitable surface using the product's instructions.
Treat cutting and heat application as two checks
A well-cut iron-on design can still fail if the pressing temperature, duration, pressure or peel method is wrong. Use the heat instructions for the exact material, base fabric and press. Do not reuse the settings from another finish or brand as a guarantee.
Make a small cut first, then test application in an inconspicuous place when appropriate. Keep the packaging or product reference so you can retrieve the same application and care instructions later.
