QuickSwap, Rotary Blade and Knife Blade: three different housings

A Maker tool with a gear is not automatically a QuickSwap tool. Order the housing that belongs to the operation.

QuickSwap tips share the QuickSwap Housing. Rotary Blade and Knife Blade each use their own drive housing and are separate systems. A loose QuickSwap tip cannot be attached to a Rotary or Knife Blade housing.

These are Maker Adaptive Tool System accessories. Confirm the exact machine and material operation before ordering an accessory for an Explore or Joy.

What a QuickSwap Housing does

QuickSwap lets a compatible Maker use different tips for operations such as scoring, debossing, engraving, perforating and wavy cutting. If you already have an intact QuickSwap Housing, a supported tip-only order can be enough.

Compare two engraving references: 2006978 includes Engraving Tip and QuickSwap Housing; 2006979 is the Engraving Tip alone. The distinction is contents, not a different engraving result promised by the catalogue. The separate housing reference is 2007269.

Why Rotary and Knife Blade stay separate

Rotary Blade has a rolling cutting edge for fabric workflows; Knife Blade is a different tool used for selected thicker and denser materials. Each needs its own documented drive housing, supported material and preparation.

The complete Rotary Blade plus Drive Housing is 2006276, with replacement kit 2003917. Knife Blade plus Drive Housing is 2003918, with replacement kit 2003919. Read the replacement instructions rather than treating these cutting edges as QuickSwap tips.

Check software and material preparation

Use the tool that Design Space requests for the chosen operation. If calibration is requested, complete that procedure before cutting. Knife Blade and some specialty workflows have software-platform requirements; verify the current support page before planning a mobile-only project.

For a new material, check its supported thickness, mat, securing method and tool instructions together. Do not increase pressure to make an unsupported thick material pass under the carriage. Secure geared tools as the machine instructions show, keeping fingers away from the cutting edge.

Choose a product

Choose a complete supported tool system. These assemblies have different drive housings; a loose tip cannot turn one into another.
