Cricut documents the Premium Fine-Point blade and housing for all Maker and Explore machines. For a complete assembly, item 2004225 includes the blade and housing. Item 2002516 is a spare blade for an existing supported housing.
That shared fine-point fit does not mean every Maker accessory fits an Explore. Rotary Blade, Knife Blade and QuickSwap tools belong to the Maker Adaptive Tool System.
Choose the cutting operation first
For ordinary paper, vinyl and iron-on work, start with the material's supported fine-point workflow. Deep-Point uses its own black housing and suits a different set of thicker materials. Bonded-Fabric has a pink identity and is for fabric with an appropriate backing; it is not the small rolling cutter used in the Maker Rotary Blade.
A material that is thick or dense is not automatically safe for a machine because a deeper blade exists. The machine, tool and documented material setting must all support the operation.
Maker 3 material and job decisions
For Maker 3, choose the material or operation below, then decide whether you already own the named housing. These examples narrow the tool system; the exact material, thickness and project still need a supported Design Space setting. They are not cutting settings or a promise that every grade of a material can be cut.
| Material or job | Tool system | References in this catalogue | Housing or setup |

Avoid buying a second housing by mistake
If your current gold Premium Fine-Point housing is undamaged, compare the blade-only replacement with a complete assembly. A worn edge and a damaged holder are different faults. Cricut Deep-Point blades must stay with Deep-Point housings.
For a Maker upgrade, decide whether you need a QuickSwap tip only, a tip plus QuickSwap Housing, or a separate Rotary/Knife drive housing. Read the included contents, since those systems can look similar in small store photographs.
A one-piece Cutting Tool is not a spare-blade housing
Check the tool you already own before choosing a loose replacement blade. Cricut now distinguishes the unified Premium Fine-Point Cutting Tool from the separate blade-and-metal-housing design. The unified tool is replaced as a whole; it does not provide a removable blade to renew with 2002516.
For the separate fine-point design in Maker machines, Cricut describes opening Clamp B, removing the housing, using its plunger to release the old blade, inserting the new blade with its sharp end outward, then returning the housing to the clamp. Blades are sharp: handle them carefully and use the instructions for the actual tool. Knife and Rotary replacement procedures are different.
Set up the real machine in Design Space
Select the complete machine generation and the material before sending the cut. A Maker 3 Smart Material job and an original Maker job can use the same fine-point blade while requiring different loading choices.
Load the tool as prompted, secure the sheet on the correct mat when one is required, and make a small test cut. Repeatedly increasing pressure cannot correct a wrong housing or a sheet that is lifting.
